As we head into Q4 of another, shall we say ‘interesting', year for the visitor attraction and events industries, we have some great pointers for you to help finish the year stronger and to start 2027 more confidently.
Programming Vs discounts
Insights show that programming and the experiences they offer are as important, if not more, than discounting. Despite tight family budgets, special events that people will want to tell their friends about - and give the feeling of money well spent - can be more persuasive than saving a few pounds. Does your marketing reflect this?
Digital posters are a great way to promote special events to reach your audience out of home in popular places like shopping centres and other high footfall venues.
Increase bookings for your festive events
There's still time to advertise your Christmas events and experiences. Reach your target audience:
- Out of home: promote your event with leaflets or QR cards.
- Online: enjoy a complimentary listing on www.visitorplus.co.uk with your leaflet campaign.
- At home: geo-targeted residential door drop campaigns.
Start the 2027 season early
Encourage earlier advance bookings and stay front of mind for last-minute bookings for February half-term and Easter. While it's true that people are making more last-minute decisions when it comes to deciding on where to go, if they know what you're offering when they are ready to book, you're making it an easy decision for them.
Tip: for leaflet campaigns starting at the beginning of January, we advise getting your print assets to us by Monday 14th December.
Re-assess your assets
You're busy, and budgets are tight, so it's tempting to run with the same printed material you've used before. But customer behaviour has changed; make sure that your message reflects that. People are making decisions later because so much in life – like the weather – is unpredictable. Give the assurances customers are looking for. Do you offer flexible advance booking, for example? What makes your offering stand out over the alternatives? Highlight that and give them the confidence to commit.
Shift to shoulder season
This summer proved to be quite the roller coaster for some attractions. Take the pressure off the 2027 peak season by putting more focus on the increasingly popular shoulder seasons. Start your promotions early in the year so the awareness is there, even if the finer details like your seasonal programme aren't in place yet. You can always reinforce your campaign with an agile digital poster or Visitor+ listing with specific events and seasonal promotions.
